Rhododendron cephalanthum Franch.
Rhododendron cephalanthum (= Rhododendron chamaetortum, Rhododendron nwaiense) is a shrub. It is a species in the genus Rhododendron which contains 850 to 1000 species and belongs to the family of the Ericaceae (Heath Family). The shrubs grow to a height of approximately 0,6 meters. The flowers are tubular and white. The plants bloom from May to July. The flowers are arranged in racemes. The fruits are septicidal capsules. They develop in autumn. It is an evergreen plant with simple leaves. The leaves are arranged opposite one another. They are dark green and ovate with entire margins.
Rhododendron cephalanthum seeds will usually germinate in 50-90 days, even under good conditions germination may be erratic. Normally will only germinate with light so surface sow. Sow Rhododendron cephalanthum seeds on the surface of a Acid Peat seed sowing mix at about 15°C.
