Arch Pharm Res. 2003 Feb;26(2):147-50. | A DNA strand-nicking principle of a higher plant, Caesalpinia sappan.[Pubmed: 12643592 ] | METHODS AND RESULTS:
To find anticancer agents from higher plants, DNA strand-scission assay method was employed for bioassay-guided fractionation as well as for screening the crude extracts. During the screening, an ethyl acetate extracts of the heartwood of Caesalpinia sappan L. (Leguminosae) exhibited potent DNA strand-scission activity.
CONCLUSIONS:
Therefore, the ethyl acetate extracts of the dried heartwood of C. sappan was subjected to the bioassay-guided fractionation, which led to the isolation of a known compound, brazilin (1) as the active constituent. In addition, caesalpine J (2) was also isolated as an inactive constituent. |

Caesalpin J Description
Source: |
The herbs of Caesalpinia decapetala |
Solvent: |
Chloroform, Dichloromethane, Ethyl Acetate, DMSO, Acetone, etc. |
Storage: |
Providing storage is as stated on the product vial and the vial is kept tightly sealed, the product can be stored for up to 24 months(2-8C).
Wherever possible, you should prepare and use solutions on the same day. However, if you need to make up stock solutions in advance, we recommend that you store the solution as aliquots in tightly sealed vials at -20C. Generally, these will be useable for up to two weeks. Before use, and prior to opening the vial we recommend that you allow your product to equilibrate to room temperature for at least 1 hour.

J Asian Nat Prod Res. 2014;16(2):187-91. | Two new degradative cassane-type diterpenes isolated from Caesalpinia minax.[Pubmed: 24325258 ] | Cassane-type diterpenes are main bioactive constituents of Caesalpinia minax HANCE.
METHODS AND RESULTS:
As a part of our ongoing chemical investigation of C. minax, two new degradative cassane-type diterpenes, named caesalpin I (1) and Caesalpin J (2), were isolated from the EtOAc extract of the seeds of C. minax. The structures were elucidated by means of spectroscopic analysis. |
