Description: 2',3'-Dehydrosalannol possesses antifeedant activity against Spodptera litura. It shows anticancer effects on triple-negative breast cancer(TNBC), it inhibits cathepsin-mediated pro-survival signaling which resulted in growth arrest of TNBC cells.
    Targets: Bcl-2/Bax | Caspase | Akt

The anticancer effect of 2'-3'-dehydrosalannol on triple-negative breast cancer cells.[Pubmed: 22753740]
Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) accounts for 15-20% of all breast tumors and these breast tumors are usually aggressive and highly metastatic. Unfortunately, treatment options for TNBCs are limited; we have identified a novel molecule,2',3'-Dehydrosalannol (DHS) and in this study we investigated the anticancer effect of DHS against TNBC cells.
TNBC (MDA-MB 231; MDA-MB 468) cells were treated with DHS and its effect on cell viability, apoptosis and molecular mechanisms were analyzed. DHS inhibited growth and induced apoptosis in TNBC cell lines. Molecular analysis suggested that DHS inhibited cathepsin-mediated pro-survival signaling [pAKT: phosphorylated protein kinase B; BCL-2: B-cell lymphoma 2 and cyclin D1] and induced pro-apoptotic markers such as BAX [BCL-2-associated X protein] and cleaved caspase-3.
Our results demonstrate that DHS inhibits cathepsin-mediated pro-survival signaling which resulted in growth arrest of TNBC cells. These findings suggest that DHS may be a promising agent for the prevention and treatment of TNBC.
    2',3'-Dehydrosalannol Description
Source: The barks of Azadirachta indica
Solvent: Chloroform, Dichloromethane, Ethyl Acetate, DMSO, Acetone, etc.
Storage: Providing storage is as stated on the product vial and the vial is kept tightly sealed, the product can be stored for up to 24 months(2-8C).

Wherever possible, you should prepare and use solutions on the same day. However, if you need to make up stock solutions in advance, we recommend that you store the solution as aliquots in tightly sealed vials at -20C. Generally, these will be useable for up to two weeks. Before use, and prior to opening the vial we recommend that you allow your product to equilibrate to room temperature for at least 1 hour.

Need more advice on solubility, usage and handling? Please email to: service@chemfaces.com

After receiving: The packaging of the product may have turned upside down during transportation, resulting in the natural compounds adhering to the neck or cap of the vial. take the vial out of its packaging and gently shake to let the compounds fall to the bottom of the vial. for liquid products, centrifuge at 200-500 RPM to gather the liquid at the bottom of the vial. try to avoid loss or contamination during handling.

    2',3'-Dehydrosalannol.[Pubmed: 12415181]

2',3'-Dehydrosalannol, methyl (2aS,3R,5R,5aS,6S,6aS,8R,9aS,10aR,10bR,10cS)-8-(3-furyl)-2a,4,5,5a,6,6a,8,9,9a,10a,10b,10c-dodecahydro-3-hydroxy-2a,5a,6a,7-tetramethyl-5-(3-methylbut-2-enoyloxy)-2H,3H-cyclopenta[4',5']furo[2',3':6,5]benzo[cd]isobenzofuran-6-acetate, C(32)H(42)O(8), was isolated from uncrushed green leaves of Azadirachta indica A. Juss (neem) and has been found to possess antifeedant activity against Spodptera litura.
The conformations of the functional groups are similar to those of 3-desacetylsalannin, which was isolated from neem kernels. The molecules are linked into chains by intermolecular O-H.O hydrogen bonds.
