Chemical & Pharmaceutical Bulletin, 1985, 33(9):4091. | Biologically active constituents of Centipeda minima: Isolation of a new plenolin ester and the antiallergy activity of sesquiterpene lactones[Reference: WebLink] | Two pseudoguianolide sesquiterpenes were isolated as antiallergic constituents of Centipeda minima, which has been used as a folk medicine in southeast Asia.
METHODS AND RESULTS:
One of the sesquiterpenes, 6-O-senesioylplenolin (2), is a new pseudoguaianolide sesquiterpene lactone, which was isolated along with known pseudoguaianolide, Arnicolide C (1). The two sesquiterpenes exhibited significant antiallergy activity in passive cutaneous anaphylaxis (PCA) tests. An amide isolated along with the sesquiterpenes was identified as aurantiamide acetate (3).
CONCLUSIONS:
Three flavonoids obtained from this plant also showed significant antiallergy activity.

However, if you need to make up stock solutions in advance, we recommend that you store the solution as aliquots in tightly sealed vials at -20C. Generally, these will be useable for up to two weeks. Before use, and prior to opening the vial we recommend that you allow your product to equilibrate to room temperature for at least 1 hour.

The packaging of the product may have turned upside down during transportation, resulting in the natural compounds adhering to the neck or cap of the vial. take the vial out of its packaging and gently shake to let the compounds fall to the bottom of the vial. for liquid products, centrifuge at 200-500 RPM to gather the liquid at the bottom of the vial. try to avoid loss or contamination during handling. |

METHODS AND RESULTS:
The constituents were isolated by column chromatography on silica gel, Sephadex LH-20 and HPLC-ODS, and identified by spectroscopic methods.Ten compounds, (-)-cis-chrysanthenol-O-beta-D-glucopyranoside (1), methy 3,5-dicaffeoylquinate (2), 3,5-di-O-caffeoyl quinicacid (3), tricin (4), 2-amino-4-methyl-pentanoicacid (5), 2-amino-3-phenyl-propionic acid (6), 4-amino-4-carboxychroman-2-one (7), brevilin-A (8), Arnicolide C (9), arnicolide D (10) were isolated and identified.
CONCLUSIONS:
Compounds 1-7 were isolated from the plant for the first time. |
